Can I cancel my internet contract because I am moving?
Moving alone does not give you a general right to cancel early – as a rule, the contract moves with you. If the provider cannot deliver the agreed service at the new address, the Telecommunications Act (TKG) gives you a right to cancel. In that case, get written confirmation that the service is not available.
How early should I tell my provider about the move?
Several weeks' notice is sensible, so that the availability check, technician appointment and activation can be coordinated. Report the move with your moving-in date and full new address, and get the activation date confirmed. A buffer is worth more than a tightly calculated preferred date.
